Role:
Creative Direction & UI Design
Zellar is a tech start-up that’s helping businesses and institutions to become more sustainable by providing the means to understand their emissions data, and then helping reduce those emissions though tailored action plans, focused on behavioural change. Partnering with Goya Studio, I worked on a brand refresh and the new product interface design for Zellar 2.0
A brand that challenges the status quo
Zellar wanted to challenge sector status quo and create a sense of the balance between technology and sustainability. I overhauled the colour, typography, illustration, photography and data visualisation over the course of a three-week sprint, taking inspiration from the graphics of activism and the ideals of creative commons. Aware of the different touchpoints and roles that the brand VI needed to play, I created a bold, confident, flexible look and feel that marks Zellar out from its competitors.
Brand as interface
My focus for the design of the product was to create a simple, engaging experience which would encourage users to take action. The clean interface moves seamlessly from simple, stylistic, easy to read data visualisation to richer, content driven moments. Motion and interaction play an important role in bringing key moments to life, helping to push users into forming better habits that will save them money and ultimately run their businesses more sustainably.
